Headquartered in Braintree, MA, Symmons is currently seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Technician II. 

 

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance and Facilities Technician II will perform maintenance and custodial services following Symmons Industries standards and practices. The ideal candidate will maintain a professional appearance and safe working environment for all Symmons facilities.

Responsibilities

 

  • Performs repairs and maintenance on machinery and equipment as directed (i.e. oil and fluid changes, greasing machines, cooling coil maintenance in plant or office facilities)
  • Assists Machine and Facility Mechanics with preventive maintenance procedures and service requests to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
  • Participates in plant floor cleaning schedule and daily interior/exterior trash and corrugated removal from plant
  • Assists with janitorial work (i.e sweeping, mopping, dusting, stripping, sealing, waxing floors, vacuuming and snow removal)
  • Responsible for cleanliness and replenishing paper supplies of bathrooms during the work day
  • Performs various other tasks as instructed by Facility Manager

 

Qualifications

  • High school or vocational school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2-6 years related trades training or equivalent work experience in maintenance and equipment repair is required
  • Requires the knowledge and ability to service plant systems and equipment and the ability to provide technical support to all departments when needed
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Math and English by receiving a passing grade in Basic English Reading Comprehension and Basic Math
  • Effectively works in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives
  • Must have the flexibility to work overtime, evening and/or weekend hours, as well as during snow or property emergencies as needed
  • Must have strong working knowledge, skills and ability to work with construction materials and a wide variety of hand and portable power tools
  • Able to interface with vendors and other outside contractors
  • Possess good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously  

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting, carrying and/or moving items up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, kneel, stand, twist, and lean while carrying parts and or tools
  • Must be able to walk long distances 8 hours per day on concrete asphalt and other hard surfaces
