We have a pivotal leadership role Vice President of Sales who will have total Sales Management and Customer Business Development responsibility for the entire portfolio of Symmons products including all commercial and retail customers in North America. They will drive the top line growth of Symmons consistent with Symmons overall financial performance targets including Gross Margin and EBITDA. This role reports directly to our President and is a member of the senior leadership team of the company.

 

The ideal candidate must be self-directed and extremely results focused. They should have experience selling to multiple partners who have an interdependent stake in an overall outcome e.g. Owners/Developers, General Contractors and Architect/Designers.  As a strong yet practical leader, our VP of Sales needs to ensure the regional teams maximize effective sales process approaches and adoption of technology applications. Expectations will be that they assess the current market sectors, identify and prioritize future growth opportunities, constantly manage ways to improve the productivity and consistently look for ways to improve efficiency of our sales efforts.  In addition, the Vice President of Sales will be a key internal company leader who will help shape the thinking on future direction of the company.

 

Must have proven leadership ability and via progressive performance management develop a strong team that can execute. Innovation is a key element of Symmons future. Develop sales strategy and rollout plans to support Symmons digital transformation initiatives that include IOT technology. This role needs to have a strong productive relationship among Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Human Resources, Finance and Operations. The Vice President of Sales must be a leader in the innovation process and work closely with each of these functions in developing a competitive strategy to proactively satisfy consumer and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of regional and corporate Sales Directors; work with them to set the vision for our various commercial/consumer segments while holding their teams accountable for meeting targets
  • New business development mindset that prioritizes the right target customers and drive the wider sales team to penetrate key interdependent decision makers early in Sales Process
  • Work with marketing and new product development to enhance product offerings. Able to identify and quantify viable market opportunities i.e. prioritized relative to other potential opportunities and ability to implement at a national level. Effectively communicate execution plans to Executive Team
  • New distribution objectives across key markets/channels/account targets
  • Expand existing customer distribution and sell through
  • Drive adoption, utilization and development plan for Salesforce platform. Advocate for sales team requirements as a member of the Salesforce steering Committee
  • Manage scorecard/dashboards of metrics for overall ongoing sales performance and action plans against gap
  • Budget preparation and management for Sales Department
  • Attend some key industry trade events
  • Complex problem solving

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Management or related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role within Sales
  • Experience in business case analysis, strategic planning and implementation required
  • Proficient written, verbal and presentation skills required
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM software is preferable
  • Experience of a manufacturing environment with specification based manufactured products preferred
  • Strong computer skills required; proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft Outlook a must
  • 50% Regional Travel
