Overview

Symmons Industries is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III who will be responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining machinery for all of manufacturing.  The ideal candidate will support lean maintenance principles in a machine shop environment by implementing methods and procedures that ensure safe, efficient, and profitable production of final products.

Responsibilities

 

  • Apply Continuous Improvement and Lean Concepts such as Workplace Organization (5S) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation, diagnose problem and/or repair machine
  • Install, trouble shoot, replace and repair electrical equipment (i.e. DC-Drives, wiring,  electrical/electronic components of machinery and/or equipment)
  • Assemble, install and maintain pipe systems, related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, grinders and drill presses to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools
  • Install, program or repair automated machinery and equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Provide preventative maintenance, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears or other parts of machinery, dismantle defective equipment and install new or repaired parts
  • Initiate purchase requests for parts and machines to replenish spare part inventory
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Assist in other departments when needed

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be a creative thinker with the drive and ability to make projects successful
  • Strong technical and mechanical knowledge and must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to attend to detail, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of Workplace Organization (5S) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Ability to diagnose, repair mechanical and electrical problems on conventional and CNC equipment
  • Must be skilled in using equipment and tools of the trade, the ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints as well as the ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions given in English
  • CNC M-code experience is a plus
  • Completion and passing of a Basic Math/English and Mechanical Aptitude Testing required

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting, carrying and/or moving items up to 35 lbs
  • Climb up/down and work off ladders
