Symmons Industries may be the perfect place for you to work as part of a small HR team and explore all  the different areas/projects an HR team engages in e.g. recruitment & onboarding, compliance, HRIS buildout, training & development and wellness.


    We are looking for a summer Human Resources Intern (Communications) to primarily work on projects which are focused on employee engagement and communication throughout our



    Internship period will be for 8 to 12 weeks.


    Ideal candidate would have completed coursework in areas connected to business administration, organizational behavior, human resources development, and communications.


    • Coordinate and support round table activities e.g. new hire breakfast, lunch and learn session, educational sessions. Create follow-up action plans and communication strategy
    • Participate in the further buildout of our HR online portal
    • Participate in the strategy and development of various communication for team members
    • Learn the full recruitment cycle i.e. position requisitions, job postings, screenings, interview techniques and candidate selection
    • Give inputs on development of our New Employee Orientation program
    • Assist with coordination of social calendar of events for team members
    • Assist with wellness activities
    • Work with the rest of the HR team on complex and difficult HR projects cross-functionally
    • Assist with College Relations and Internship Program
    • Assist with training scheduling and updates to learning management system
    • Assist with ROI analysis and generating HR statistic reports
    • Updates to Employee Handbook
    • Cleanup and organize personnel files


    • Must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in a program leading to a Bachelors or Master’s degree
    • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Baseline knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including change management, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, federal and state employment law
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
    • Must be capable of collaborative engagement throughout all levels of the organization – manufacturing team, office associates, leadership, management and field sales team
    • Capable of handling confidential material in a thorough and professional manner
