We are proudly respected in the industry for the quality of our products and customized service levels.  Headquartered in Braintree, MA, Symmons is currently seeking a Senior Developer Analyst who will design and produce tools such as reports, applications, scorecards and data models used by key decision makers to gain financial and other quantitative insight into complex business circumstances.


    • Planning, conducting and directing the analysis of complex business problems to be solved utilizing elements of the information systems architecture.
    • Extensive Data analysis beyond the user community’s capabilities, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reporting, troubleshooting data integrity issues and assistance in the creation of new business views and supporting data structures within Enterprise One (J.D. Edwards), DSI MEP and BI tools (Cognos)
    • Provide tactical analytical support to meet business demands as required.
    • Design details of new business system applications and applications changes.
    • Diagnose and identify problems with software/hardware; initiate contact with and interact with outside vendors for support.
    • Implement functional changes and additions to J.D. Edwards and related applications.
    • Create documentation of requirements, technical design and business user training.
    • Candidate will assist with development of business intelligence tools and reporting.
    • Collaborate with data team on the creation of data models / packages and contribute to the continuous growth and optimization of the data architecture.
    • Communicate with key business users before, during and after the development of analytical tools to ensure adequate requirements gathering, development progress, user acceptance and business process integration.
    • Proactively organize, prioritize and manage workload.
    • Continuously improve technical skills through training, seminars, webinars and self-directed research / investigation.
    • Manage the development lifecycle (requirements, mock up, beta, design, test, document, migrate, train, maintain) and support periodic software upgrade process.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science required.  Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
    • Broad experience and knowledge of manufacturing related business practices, available tools and existing applications.
    • 5+ years’ experience with J.D. Edwards Enterprise One required. To include, Forms Design Aid, Report Design Aid, Event Rules and Business Functions.
    • Two years of experience with DSI TranCollector or Mobile Enterprise Platform.
    • Two years of experience writing and tuning SQL queries.
    • Two years of experience writing and maintaining detailed documentation, including policies, procedures, and standards that fit into an enterprise environment.
    • Experience providing guidance, solutions, and troubleshooting to business personnel at all levels.
    • Ability to work with both relational and dimensional data sources.  Experience with SQL, Java Script, HTML are preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand new software products and concepts, including ability to self-instruct using available texts and other resources.
    • Strong quantitative and logical thinking skills combined with the ability to think creatively and formulate unique reporting designs.
    • Excellent organization skills: ability to create and maintain documentation, organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines with minimal direct supervision.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skill in interacting across multiple departments.
    • Adequate business knowledge for effective requirements gathering and logical designs.
